Welcome to Casa iLanga
Located in a safe and tranquil neighbourhood in Somerset West, the intimate “House of Sun” guesthouse is nestled close to the impressive Helderberg mountains on one side and the wide open beaches of False Bay on the other.
When Geertje, the Belgian owner and manager of Casa iLanga, took her first trip to Africa more than 20 years ago to do voluntary work in Zambia, she fell deeply in love with the continent’s people, places and authentic living. After a few regular-up visits to South Africa and neighbouring countries, it became harder and harder to go back to Europe where she worked as a care giver for disabled people. Eventually she gave into her heart’s calling and returned to Cape Town where she utilised her expertise to establish the completely wheelchair-friendly Casa iLanga guesthouse in Somerset west.
Casa iLanga has recently been completely renovated, boasting a modern and elegant ambience with a touch of contemporary African décor in all five bedrooms.
Apart from now being fully accessible by wheelchair, Casa iLanga has also been tastefully transformed to accommodate guests with special needs in all en-suite rooms, leisure spaces and communal areas. We can provide care from professional nurses on request.
Casa iLanga is only 30 km from Cape Town International, about 10 minutes’ drive from the world-famous Cape Winelands, and right next to the N2 national road to the Garden Route.

What a pleasant surprise staying in this Villa! The owner - Gertie and her son Sem were the most gracious, accommodating and fun loving hosts! They went out of their way to help organize for a South Indian wedding. Such participation and willingness would not be seen anywhere else in the world given that Gertie is Flemish! Folks should plan destination events in Cape Town and stay in Casa Ilanga.
I start with the Dutch text, below you also can find the English version.Fantastic. The advantage of Casa Ilangha is that it is not very far from the airport. So if you arrive with Emirates like us, you can still be there before dark. Geertje is a fantastic hostess who welcomes you with open arms and can also give good advice about trips. The rooms are very nice and clean, and the breakfast is simply delicious. Should not be more. The guesthouse is also very well located for making certain trips to, for example, Cape Town, Hermanus, Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, Stellenbosch, Franschoek, etc. There are also nice restaurants and a shopping mall nearby.Perfect location for trips to Cape Towen, Table Mountain, Cape of good hope, Stellenbosch, Hermanus, Franshoek,... Big and very clean rooms. Geertje is the perfect host and her guesthouse is not that far away from the airport. Birth Room | Birth Space | Birth Guesthouse.We were fortune to birth at Casa iLanga.A beautiful, wholesome experience.Mom received royal treatment with champagne breakfast in bed and little one a custom born at Casa Ilanga little hoodie.Baloons was hung outside celebrating the birth of ourboy by guesthouse and the entire experience felt like a celebration! That's what birth should feel like.Casa iLanga meaning House of Sun, which it definitely was for us. Giving life to our second born was really amazing and filled with sun beams to our souls.The facilities are perfect for a ”home” birth.We used a birthpool and all the rooms are large enough to accommodate one.Bathrooms are spacious and as they cater for wheelchair guests you can image how great it is for a very pregnant woman or just after birth.Accessories to assist getting up on toilet, adjustable shower, shower bench.Black out curtains for privacy or for a dark romantic room during the day.Beautiful breakfast.Practical points:- Velgelen Mediclinic hospital 5 minutes away- Helderberg Public hospital 5 minutes away- No Laodshedding- Nurse can be arranged- Carer can be arranged- Natasha Stadler ( my midwife) 5 minutes away.- Enuta Pedro ( my Doula ) 15 minutes away.A magical place to give birth at in the Western Cape of South Africa.Thanks again to Geertjie for welcoming our family to your guest house.
Warm and lovely host! Our stay was very relaxing. The French style bread in the morning is a delicious touch. We had the smallest accommodations of the lot. Here I would advice to pack light and enjoy being cuddled up together. For us it was the right place at the right time. Thank you Geertje!
Casa Ilanga really has everything to make a vacation in South Africa a success. Fully equipped rooms with all possible facilities (comfortable beds, air conditioning, centrally controlled lighting, very spacious bathroom,...). Also note the beautiful drawing that covers an entire wall. And to top it all off: a very pleasant hostess.Another thing: no trouble, moreover, from the infamous South African electricity outages; her solar panels take care of that.

The guest house premise is excellent and you immediatly made us feeling home with friendly welcome and relaxing atmosfere. The rooms are well furnished with style, good test and combination of colors and very clean! Whole premise is facilitating accomodation for less able people, which is admirable well done Geertje! It was my first time in South Africa and it was a wonderful experience. The start of my road trip started at Casa iLanga. I am grateful to Geertje for all her help while planning this road trip. I owe my unforgettable holiday to her good advice and extensive information about various fun activities in the area. She is the perfect host.The rooms of Casa iLanga itself are very clean and practical. The furniture has been thought through and is very comfortable. The rooms contain different plugs, which was convenient for European travelers. The Casa iLanga is known as a wheelchair friendly guesthouse. As a physiotherapist for neurological disorders, I enjoyed seeing the facilities for wheelchair users in the rooms. Furthermore, the breakfast contained everything I needed.The guesthouse is conveniently located. From Casa iLanga you can easily visit the different parts of Cape Town.I would like to visit Casa iLanga Guesthouse again.
